In 1948, Ritsumeikan was one of the first Japanese universities to be organized under the new university system. - The Ritsumeikan University MEXT Scholarship Program in Japan 2024 is a fully funded scholarship from the University of Ritsumeikan, Kyoto, Japan. The MEXT will pay all costs to study abroad in Japan to obtain this youth opportunity.

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible to apply for the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship, an applicant must:
- Have the nationality of a country that has diplomatic relations with the Japanese government. Applicants who have Japanese nationality are not eligible (Japanese dual-nationality citizens who plan on renouncing their Japanese citizenship, however, may apply).
- Have been born on or after April 2, 1989.
- Be in both good physical and mental health.
- Be willing to acquire a student visa and enter Japan for study upon receipt of the scholarship.
- Be able to arrive in Japan on a date designated by Ritsumeikan University in the middle of September 2024.
- You do not need to calculate this on your own. The university will calculate your GPA according to MEXT’s formula after receiving your formal application.

- Formal and official certificate of graduation or future graduation or completion of the programme or expected completion of the programme from the most recent university or college attended (Undergraduate or Graduate degree program)
- (Optional) Records (e.g., GPA, grades and criteria, individual rank order) from the most recent institution that demonstrate exceptional academic accomplishment with a high success predictor
- If you haven’t written a thesis, your abstract should be a succinct synopsis—no more than two pages—of your most recent published article, graduation project, term paper, etc.
- A copy of a passport page containing the name and date of birth of the claimant or a copy of the family registry or certificate of residence.
