- Students must be citizens of Korea Global Scholarship partner countries.
- Students should be less than 25 years of age.
- Students with Korean citizenship or dual citizenship.

Through the embassy route, candidates must apply through the South Korean embassy in their home countries. The embassy selects the candidate and asks the candidate to apply to a university and nominate you as their GKS candidate and submit the nomination to NIIED, but the final selection is made by NIIED.
Through the university route, candidates have to apply directly to the university. The university will enrol you as a 2023 GKS candidate and send your nomination to NIIED, as the final decision will be taken by NIIED.
