The 2022 DAD Helmut Schmidt Master Scholarship Program is accepted from June 1 to July 31, 2021. The goal of this program is to prepare future leaders in politics, law, economics and governance in accordance with the principles of greater governance. Take exercise-based courses for their career.

The scholarship programs are open to candidates from developing countries who are pursuing an undergraduate degree to pursue postgraduate courses in areas particularly relevant to the social, political and economic development of their home countries.

With the knowledge and experience gained in Germany, the scholarship holders should be able to contribute to the establishment of a democratic economic and social order with the aim of overcoming social differences. DAAD intends to support good governance structures and civil society.

DAAD Helmut Schmidt Master Scholarship Benefits:

  1. Monthly stipend of €861
  2. Contributions to health insurance
  3. Appropriate travel allowance
  4. Study and research subsidy
  5. Monthly rent subsidy where applicable
  6. An additional rate of €500 is paid in the fourth semester (compulsory online semester in the student country or in another developing country);
  7. Scholarship holders are offered a specialized tuition at their host institution funded by DAD.
  8. In addition, scholars are invited to participate in various networking events
  9. DAAD scholarship holders in the Helmut Schmidt program are exempted from paying tuition.

DAAD Helmut Schmidt Master Scholarship Eligibility:

  • Have a college degree with above-average results (upper third).
  • Full language skills (each university requires different language skills);
  • Get involved politically and socially.
  • Persuasive description on the topic of a study project in Germany and about personal motivation and expected benefits upon return home.
  • You must have a recent university degree within the past six years before applying for the scholarship.
  • Applicants who have resided in Germany for more than 15 months at the time of application are not eligible.
  • All postgraduate courses have additional requirements that applicants must meet in any case.

DAAD Helmut Schmidt Master Scholarship Application instructions

  1. Fill out the DAAD Application form for Research Grants and Scholarships only once to find out who you are studying for the first time and what your second priority is.
  2. For both university courses,Write a single letter of motivatio justify your first and second preference.
  3. Send the DAAD Scholarship Form along with a written letter and required documents to the two universities of your choice. Don’t send it to DAAD.

Applications must be submitted in German or English. Please declare that you are applying for the DAAD Helmut Schmidt (Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Good Governance) program. You are allowed to apply for the two Master’s courses listed above.
