Commonwealth Professional Fellowship 2023 for International Students:

Applications are invited for the Commonwealth Professional Fellowship 2023 for mid-career professionals in the UK. International students from low- and middle-income Commonwealth countries are eligible to apply for the mid-career fellowship. Students can spend between six weeks and three months in the UK on a professional development program at a host organization working in their field.

Financial Benefits:

Commonwealth Professional Fellowship 2023 is an entirely free professional fellowship for all students. This includes all expenses. The details are given below:

  • Provides a return air ticket to the UK from the candidate’s country of residence.
  • A subsistence allowance is payable at £1,782 per month for the duration of the award, or £2,197 per month for organizations in the London Metropolitan Area. Exceptionally, depending on the established schedule, a subsistence allowance may be payable. If required, more details will be provided at the time of selection.
  • If the Fellow declares a disability, CSC will conduct a thorough assessment of requirements and eligibility for additional financial assistance.
  • Arrival Allowance is available at current rates up to £972.59, which includes money for warm clothing.
  • Pay the standard visa application fee.
  • A flat-rate grant of £1,000 towards host organization costs related to partner administration and support, arranging appropriate meetings, and any necessary materials and side trips (to be paid to the host organization for the partner during the award period upon receipt).
  • Costs for participants of short courses/conferences may be agreed upon, as well as the costs of visits to other UK organizations, where this is an integral part of the programme.
  • Up to £2,000 for prizes of less than two months and up to £3,000 for prizes of three months (to be paid to the host organization upon receipt of the invoice) is negotiable.

Here is a list of organizations approved by the Commission to host the fellowship for this round of fellowships. Below are the eligibility criteria for each program along with the official website link for each organization. Please read the criteria of each organization, if the criteria are not met, the candidate will be disqualified.

Eligibility Criteria:

An applicant must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the fellowship.  

  • Must be a citizen of an eligible Commonwealth nation or granted refugee status, or be a British Protectorate.
  • The applicant must be a permanent citizen of the eligible country.
  • Five years of full-time experience or equivalent part-time experience in the profession related to the above subject for the fellowship. Note that volunteer work experience will not be considered.
  • Be employed at the time of application to return after completing the fellowship.
  • The candidate must not have been selected for this fellowship within the last five years at the time of application.
  • Candidates who are not studying in the UK for course work or research work. Academics are eligible to apply for the scheme but only for undertaking academic management programs and not research or courses related to their research topic.
  • Applicants for this fellowship must be available between 1st February 2023 and 15th March 2023.

Your application must include at least two references, one of which must be from your current employer, otherwise, it will not be considered eligible.

After the deadline for application and reference, your application will be sent to the host organization where you have applied for the fellowship. Then the organization will review your application and make available the list of selected students to the commission. The commission then selects the final candidates for the fellowship.
